Aussie Solar School Grants Program

Aussie Solar offered a Greenhouse Grants Program  to provide local schools with grant funding to develop and implement environmental projects. All schools, from kindergartens to year 6, within the Blue Mountains local government area were eligible to apply for funding of up to $1500 each. Funding for this program was  made available through Aussie Solar's Sustainbility Fund (ASSF).

All the schools applied to undertake a range of environmental education activities including, bushland conservation, kitchen gardens, energy, water and waste reduction programs.

A resource kit had been developed to help schools successfully apply for grants. The kit included project ideas and estimated costs, case studies and links to lesson plans to make it easier for teachers and students to achieve great environmental education outcomes.

Kindlehill was presented with a cheque for $1650 they will be building a plant propegation mud brick igloo.

They have invited Aussie Solar installations back just before Christmas to look at the progress of the igloo and have pizza made from there outdoor mud pizza oven- yumm!!

A total of $10,000 was donated to the following schools

Kindle hill- Wentworth Falls

Wentworth falls primary schools- Wentworth Falls

Megalong Valley primary schools- Megalong Valley

Steiner School- Hazelbrook

Korowal School- Leura

Leura primary school- Leura

Ellison Primary School- Springwood

Faulconbridge primary school- Faulconbridge

Lapstone primary school- Lapstone

Mount Riverview primary school- Mt Riverview

Over the next 6 months the schools will be building their sustainable project and we will post the information on our website when it is available. This was a truly inspiring project that Aussie Solar have developed and we are very proud of our local community for supporting sustainability!
