NSW Solar Bonus Scheme

NSW Gross Feed in Tariff (FIT)

The “Solar Bonus Scheme” will operate with a gross tariff. A gross tariff pays consumers for all the electricity they generate and feed into the electricity grid. The scheme will be concentrated for seven years, and will pay the consumer a flat rate of 60c per kW hr for the electricity they feed into the grid.

The key points are as follows;

  • It is for NSW only

  • It is for small scale solar and wind generators up to a maximum 10kW Capacity.

  • The feed in tariff rate is a flat rate of 60c per kW hr.

  • You must own a complying system, which is determined by your energy provider.

  • The scheme will continue until the 31/12/2016 for those who are complying.

  • The scheme will be reviewed in 2012 or when the scheme capacity reaches 50 megawatts.

  • Clause 15A of the Bill provides that distribution network service providers are to authorize the connection of eligible generators to their network, provided the generator complies with specific technical, metering and safety requirements

  • The scheme is expected to reward participants with the standard 1.5kW system with around $1500 annually.

  • Transition arrangements will be in place for those customers with NET metering.

  • Existing customers of solar power that meet the requirements will be eligible to participate in the scheme from 1 January 2010.
